Salamander History

In March of 2004, Chris Eaton and Jed Malcolm decided to merge their collective knowledge of the management and field sides of the construction industry. After being born and raised in Middlebury area both were drawn back home to continue their construction careers in a place they cherished.

Jed Malcolm

Jed, after graduating from Bucknell University in 2000 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, managed large commercial construction projects in Baltimore, Maryland for the Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. His client list included Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, The Kennedy Krieger Institute, Mercantile Bank, Citifinancial, and Peter Angelos of the Baltimore Orioles.

Chris, after graduating from Middlebury College in 1999, worked summers on Nantucket Massachusetts building high end primary and secondary residences for Surfside Construction. He also spent his winters as a sales representative for the family business in the ski apparel industry. In May of 2006 Jed took full ownership of the business when Chris was lured by his future Bride back to the Nantucket area where he continued building.

What We Do

Salamander Construction specializes in new home construction as well as additions, renovations, outbuildings, decks and porches. We are a one crew operation who feels that the single crew allows that the proper attention is given to each project. Salamander Construction appreciates the fact that building someone's home is a very personal adventure and we respect the personal nature with which every decision in the process is made. It is our responsibility to ensure that these decisions are made with the necessary knowledge and information to make sure the right decision be made with regards to schedule, budget and design.
